Historical Review

How it all began

The Òkè-Ògùn Progressive Association was born from a single, powerful gathering. In 1996, Chief (Deacon) J. A. Aderounmu, of blessed memory, visited the United States. Asked about progress toward the creation of Òkè-Ògùn State, he called together as many Òkè-Ògùn indigenes as could be assembled and what he shared with them that day changed everything. That meeting gave rise to the Òkè-Ògùn Patriotic Movement, which was later renamed the Òkè-Ògùn Progressive Association, USA. Since then, OPA has grown into a committed diaspora force, channelling resources, advocacy, and solidarity back to the people of Òkè-Ògùn.
